The PSCFA Speech and Debate Scholars Award

PSCFA remains committed to the promotion of academic excellence among its students. Each year, PSCFA recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement through the Speech and Debate Scholars Award.

Application Timeline

  • By January 1, the PSCFA President will send an email announcing the opening of applications.
  • All nomination materials must be submitted by February 1, unless otherwise specified.

✅ Eligibility Requirements

Students are eligible to be named to the PSCFA All-Conference Academic Team if they meet the following criteria:

  • Participation in at least three PSCFA tournaments during the academic year
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher

📄 Submission Requirements

The Director of Forensics of each PSCFA member school shall submit a formal letter containing:

  • The names of all eligible students
  • A list of the three (or more) qualifying tournaments for each student
  • A copy of each student’s transcript verifying GPA

All materials must be sent to the President of PSCFA by February 1.

🏆 Awards & Fees

Awards will be presented at the Spring Championships. The cost of each commemorative plaque ($15) will be included in the school’s tournament fees.

Important: If a school does not attend the Spring Championship tournament, a check made payable to “PSCFA” must be sent to the Executive Secretary.

✉️ Letters of Commendation

Within 30 days of the Spring Championships, the PSCFA President will send a letter of commendation to:

  • The President of each recipient’s institution
  • The institution’s school newspaper
